Technology has gone too far! I read that: "Digital library gives students paperless books for reading.” When will these youngsters learn the love of real books and the joy of being able to hold a wonderful book in their hands?

I agree with "angry random old dude", what's wrong having a real book in your hands instead of having a visual book?

I agree with Mia. That we are spending to much time on the social media, and we need to be more social. But technology is still necessary in the time we are living.

There are some of the things I agree with, but technology/social media has also helped a lot of people, we just have to know how to use it.

i think she is right we use the social media far too much but its okay to use social media when you are alone,so when you are at a party or eating lunch etc. just keep your phone in the pocket and have fun with the people around you.

I would NOT reformend this shitty text to anyone because she is a complete lunatic who is afraid of being left to herself. We should just embrace the technology. But I have to agree with on one point , when you are eating dinner with others don't use your phone.

Ted talks on the topic social media

Take a look at these two Ted Talks. Comment on them with your thoughts about social media. Do you think that the internet has made your life better? Do you think that it has made your social connections stronger or has it made you feel more alone? Do you agree with this quote: “I’ll tell you what’s wrong with having a conversation. It takes place in real time and you can’t control what you’re going to say.” What do you think of this quote: “ those little devices in our pockets, are so psychologically powerful that they don’t only change what we do, they change who we are.” What about you? Can you walk away from your phone for an hour?

Should you put Your Phone Down?

Do you agree or disagree with the points 1-4: 1.     It’s rude not to put down your phone when in conversations with others Imagine you’re talking with someone and  in the middle of it they start to talk to someone else. That’s kind of a “are you kidding me?” moment. 2.     Put down your phone - It raises the quality of your conversations Just by being there our phone has the potential to distract us from our in-person conversations.” 3.       Your Phone is a distraction  A single phone notification can spoil your ability to focus on a specific task or conversation. 4.     It helps you be more empathetic* Sherry Turkle, (from the TED Talk), writes that texting or not paying attention create disengaged* conversations that lead to a lack of empathy. “ Face-to-face conversation is the most human and humanizing thing we do,” writes Turkle. “It’s where we develop the capac...

Unique Strengths of Single-Parent Families

Growing up with a single parent. According to the article "The Unique Strengths of Single-Parent Families" single parents are often successful in raising happy and healthy children.   by Stephen Duncan Dr. Nowadays, it's quite common to talk about the problems of single parent families. These problems usually center on the disadvantages to children. This focus may lead some single parents to throw up their hands in despair. I remember as a young graduate student feeling shocked and appalled at some of the personal deficits I was predicted to have, because I spent 11 years of my childhood in a single parent family. It's true that research shows that children in single parent families, on average, tend to do less well in many ways than children in two-parent families. However, all of us know of persons who grew up in single parent families who turned out fine. In addition, single parent families aren't helped to become strong by focusing only on their weakn...
